health as your
Health and Disease are two sides of the same coin, and that coin is indeed your immunity. Health depends on the good functioning of the immune system; on his ability to cope with disease.
Contrary to what we have always been told, a healthy immune system is not the one that carries out the strongest reaction. When speaking about immunity, it’s all about balance. The immune system is first and foremost a self-recognition system, a complex, adaptive, plastic and flexible network, with the ability to recognize what belongs to the organism itself and the elements that are part of its environment, and that reacts to anything that has the potential to harm the body. A healthy immune system is therefore one that is capable to adapt to a constantly changing environment; one that is able to react appropriately to the right threats, and not necessarily one that reacts in the most powerful way. Did you think your immune system only works when you’re sick?
When you boost your body’s own ability to heal, cure and care, your health can last longer and when you do fall ill, you have an easier time recovering. Having a healthy immune system does not mean that you will never get sick, even a healthy immune system can be overwhelmed at a certain moment. However, promoting immune health is an opportunity for Sustainable Health.
